"Anyway"

***
This is often attributed to Mother Teresa as a copy was on her wall but it was written by Kent M Keith when he was 19,and first published by Harvard Students' Agency in 1968.

**********************************

People are often unreasonable, illogical and self-centered;
Forgive them anyway.

If you are kind, people may accuse you of selfish ulterior motives;
Be kind anyway.

If you are successful, you will win some false friends and true enemies;
Succeed anyway.

If you are honest and frank, people may cheat you;
Be honest anyway.

What you spend years building, someone could destroy overnight;
Build anyway.

If you find serenity and happiness, they may be jealous;
Be happy anyway.

The good you do today, people will often forget tomorrow;
Do good anyway.

Give the world the best you have, and it may never be enough;
Give the world the best you've got anyway.

You see, in the final analysis, it is between you and God;
It was never between you and them anyway.
Mother Teresa

Hello Didi,
So finally we get our share again :D
Had just read it sometime back; some frnd sent in when I was kinda depressed! Thats why gave it pretty decent thot but as Linkin Park puts it- "In the end it doesn't even matter"!

Very nice, on a first hand view, though I found this one much too exalted writing. Consider a common person and not someone as Mother Teresa. It can give her motivation everytime she thinks of such things but its difficult for common person to get motivated EVERYTIME (s)he read its; and also sees the injustice, discrimination, humiliation of mankind going around him/her. Human frustation and anger got unique/intriguing ways to show up; and suchaaa idealistic writing is hard to get ppl moving up the saintly path!

......But surely the BEST part I love abt this piece is "Give the world the best you've got". Replace that "you've got" to "you can" and it suits me exactly as I want and act. So I found this small change and bit neglect of the whole poem, much more appealing to me.

Of course the presumption that goes with my neglect of this is that I am, and for that matter anyone who is turning this piece down as another "good-to-preach-and-print-in-papers" poem, is definitely holding his/her ground and not resorting to something bad/depressing/tragic/etc act against himself/mankind/nature/nothing. Its about just giving the best u can as a unique individual and again as an individual not accepting something too saintly which one knows is appreciative but hard to follow when life's tests burn thru' you.

I would love to know what others gotta think about. Think about it putting u in extreme distrust for injustice going around, putting urself in anger when something bad happens to u when all u have tried to give away is goodness, putting urself in a disgusting or depressing position at the self and society at large. And I never found this stuff propelling me ahead rather I've found solace in self-help, silence, being alone, depressing myself to the worst, some deep thots, throwing up tanturms, calling things/ppl names but then again rise, stand up for me, trying to put up a lot of fake smile, striking back much more realistically and stand my ground again- higher/stronger than before and .... well u know ..... life just goes on!

Beautiful poem. Every stanza was a jewel, but the last one was the telling one.

You have a lovely treasure of forwards. Keep exploring, and sharing these jewels with us. It will make us rich as well :-)

Hi Vandy...this was another beautiful one... but too many forwards spoils the writer...we want an original one from you now!

Hi Vandy. Confirmed it. Mithun won it 3 times. The 'bakait' at home had read it somewhere that when Mithun had 4th kid, he wanted a National Award for that one as well. But he never got another one :-)

Hi Bro
First thing first: congrats for the cute little niece,
give her a hug from my side too.

The poem may be idealistic but suits me fine.May be because in my own ,protected,cosy,little world I can afford to follow her instructions

Everyone feels cheated or depressed at some point of his life but before getting into depression I rationalise the situation like this:How much wd it matter to me after 2 r 3 yrs? Nothing ? Then Is the situation that bad?

"In the end it doesn"t even matter" ...... Liked it!

Cleared the course,got a gift,a great weekend ahead thats realy great!
Bye and take care.

the referring site is:
http://culture.dyu.ac.kr/lec/content.asp?idx=1

the download page is:
http://culture.dyu.ac.kr/lec/files/

length : 3:36 minutes
download: 3.3 MB

I hope the music would be an instant hit with you too! Would be better if u have a DSL connection! This site allows resumable downloads hence use some download manager [flashget, DAP, etc.] so u won't face broken downloads! And here are the lyrics:

Title: In The End (one of the 3 chart toppers in 2001, all 3 from Linkin Park's DEBUT album Hybrid Theory!)
Artist: Linkin Park
Album: Hybrid Theory (2001's multi platinum album)

It starts with one
One thing I don't know why
It doesn't even matter how hard you try
Keep that in mind I designed this rhyme
To explain in due time

All I know
Time is a valuable thing
Watch it fly by as the pendulum swings
Watch it count down to the end of the day
The clock ticks life away
It's so unreal
Didn't look out below
Watch the time go right out the window
Trying to hold on but didn't even know
Wasted it all just to
Watch you go
I kept everything inside and even though I tried it all fell apart
What it meant to me will eventually be a memory of a time when I tried

I tried so hard
And got so far
But in the end
It doesn't even matter
I had to fall
To lose it all
But in the end
It doesn't even matter

One thing I don't know why
It doesn't even matter how hard you try
Keep that in mind I designed this rhyme
To remind myself how
I tried so hard

In spite of the way you were mocking me
Acting like I was part of your property
Remembering all the times you've fought with me
I'm surprised it got so (far)
Things aren't the way they were before
You wouldn't even recognize me anymore
Not that you knew me back then
But it all comes back to me
In the end
You kept everything inside and even though I tried it all fell apart
What it meant to me will eventually be a memory of a time when I tried

I tried so hard
And got so far
But in the end
It doesn't even matter
I had to fall
And lose it all
But in the end
It doesn't even matter

I put my trust in you
Pushed as far as I can go
And for all this
There's only one thing you should know

I put my trust in you
Pushed as far as I can go
And for all this
There's only one thing you should know
I tried so hard
And got so far
But in the end
It doesn't even matter
I had to fall
And lose it all
But in the end
It doesn't even matter
