Palmistry Intrigues me a lot, but I am a bit superstitious about it. Superstitious because in the heart of my heart I feel I’m doubting my guardian angel by asking someone else about my future that too showing my hand to someone in a begging posture, anyway.
I was in class 11th. Back from college I reached my friend’s house. Needless to say how important friends are at that point of life. Met her uncle who was good at ‘reading palms’. Hesitantly I too showed him my palm. A cursory look and he blurted, "Marriage at the age 23!" Vandyyy … TREAT everyone shouted, laughed and forgot.
Two years later one more uncle (palmist not a professional though) came to our house. Without even looking at my palm he predicted ---‘You will marry a professor." Oh God I was amused to see his confidence and to think abt the prof!
Years rolled by, I finished my studies and took a job. Between the classes to teach and piles of papers to check, a colleague (a bio teacher) held my hand and read out, “Surely by the end of this year and most probably by October you’ll be married.” I was again startled .
Came October and I was married to a professor at the age of 23!

ReplyDeleteAs regards palmistry (and astrology attached with it- an aside, i read a post on astrology on someone's blog just this morning only) i am a bit wary and cautious. Actually, though I don't really doubt both, I am not sure if the person practising it is really competent enough or just pulling a fast one, or in search of a fast buck!
For eg, in college this serious looking guy had everyone enamored with his so call palmistry skills; looking at my hand he proclaimed i shall never go abroad! Now, I did not tell him that i was born abroad and spent a considerable portion of it too...but still i gave him a benefit of doubt, thinking that ab iske aage baahar jaana nahin hoga...
And see, here i am...ok i understand Nepal is not really abroad in the proper sense of the term, but i seriously doubt he had that sort of distinction when he made his announcement.
That way, u hv to be really lucky to meet a proper guy who knows this science well...
So, u a teacher and hubby professor! Wow, cool jodi no 1. !
And as to the reply to ur last comment on ur last post...trust me, i dont mind anything from u at all! on the contrary, i simply love it!

In college most of the guys who claim to read the palm are fake.....remember the story by RK Narayan,'An Astrologer's Day'?

ReplyDeleteIf an expert/trained/professional astrologer predicts something then its OK but when a common person with a lil knowledge predicts...and it comes out exact, its really amazing.
Apart from the incidences I've mentioned. I never allowed anyone to read my hand..its so scary yaar!

I try not to pay too much attention to predictions by a palmist/astrologer. And am also not quite 'taken in' by reputations.
Also Vandy .. & Deepak .... the only time I enjoyed palmistry was at college. It was fun to 'pose' as one. And legitimately get to hold hands of all the good looking ladies. Did that quite a bit ;-). And let me tell you if one has a decent IQ and keen observation/intution .. one can get away by doing a 15 minute prediction routine .. whether or not you actually know how to read palms. Evil no ?? Ha ha ha.

ReplyDeleteU wont believe me! My Dad has a PHD in physics and he tries to evaluate everything in life using a logic but he believes in the art/science of astrology and palmistry. Talk about extremes! So far a bunch of his predictions have been true for our family and friends!
So now I am confused I don't know whether to believe or not...Every now and then he forecasts something no one thinks is possible and then it happens!!!
BTW I had lot of fun at college as a palmist using Dad's basics on palmistry....I was ragged less and all the seniors were running after me to get their hands read...I predicted for one of them that she would get married to this guy in the year 2003 and she did (they weren't even dating each other)...Anyways mera tukka lag gaya...Now I have a TREAT pending from her!

ReplyDeletefinally all came true in the end.i still remember how beautiful u looked during your marriage.specially during the "mangal snan" cremony,u were wearing a creamish white kurta pygama with pink dupatta and i being the little one clinched to you all the time.lovely memories indeed.since childhood even i have been made to wore many different stone rings with different opinions from different pandits and people but all this may or may not be true i don't know, but yes i believe in one thing,that the almight has already written it for me but i have the power n belief to for him to change them according to my karma and my little heart offcourse :).
